Sticks’n’Sushi, the Danish-Japanese restaurant group known for its classic and creative sushi as well as grilled sticks, has appointed Kushal Banerjee as its new Chief Financial Officer.

With over 17 years of experience, Banerjee brings significant expertise in M&A, capital markets, and corporate strategy. He will lead the finance teams in Copenhagen, Berlin, and London, focusing on financial decision-making, implementing strategic board recommendations, and contributing to the group’s overall expansion.

Before joining Sticks’n’Sushi, Banerjee served as Finance Director at Azzurri Group, a private equity-backed hospitality investment platform with over 230 locations. His previous roles include positions at Daily Mail & General Trust PLC, Lion Capital, and Manchester United.

Andreas Karlsson, CEO of Sticks’n’Sushi, expressed enthusiasm about Banerjee’s appointment, stating, “We are delighted to have Kushal join the Sticks’n’Sushi family – his extensive experience will be invaluable in supporting brand growth and driving the business forward as we continue to expand and explore new territories, create new jobs, and provide long-term value for our stakeholders.”

Banerjee shared his thoughts on joining the team, saying, “Sticks’n’Sushi has always stood out to me as a beautifully curated brand, with a rich heritage and unique potential. I’m thrilled to be joining the team as CFO at such an exciting time for the business and developing the strategy for expansion.”

Founded in Copenhagen in 1994 by half-Danish, half-Japanese brothers Jens and Kim Rahbek alongside Thor Andersen, Sticks’n’Sushi has expanded to include twelve restaurants in and around the Danish capital, fourteen in the UK, and three in Berlin, Germany.

UK locations can be found in Islington, Wimbledon, Covent Garden, Greenwich, Canary Wharf, Victoria, King’s Road, Soho, White City, Shoreditch, Kingston, Richmond, Oxford, and Cambridge.
