The new range is designed to appeal to the free-from market. A UK foodservice supplier known for its pies, pasties, and other snacks has unveiled its festive offerings for 2024, emphasizing the free-from market segment.

The free-from market targets consumers looking for products devoid of specific allergens or ingredients, including gluten, dairy, nuts, and soy. It caters to individuals with dietary restrictions, allergies, or those who prefer to avoid certain ingredients for health or lifestyle choices.

According to data from Spherical Insights, the size of the UK free-from market is expected to grow by 12.2% by 2033. In response, Phat Pasty is launching the Wild Boar, Apple and Cider Gluten-Free Pie, made with wild boar and apple in a creamy cider and mustard sauce, encased in a golden gluten-free pastry. This pie is available in two sizes: 300g for a main dish or a 90g mini version.

The new pie is part of a collection of three hot-to-go festive treats. For meat lovers, there’s the Phat Christmas Dinner Pasty, featuring a filling of turkey, bacon, sausage, and cranberries, seasoned with sage and onion in a hand-crimped pasty. There’s also the Phat Festive Chunky Sausage Roll, which includes pork, turkey, ham, and cranberries, wrapped in a puff pastry roll.

Additionally, recognizing that nearly 67% of consumers are highly conscious of sustainability and a third are lowering their meat consumption, the range includes a meat-free option: the Phat Festive Vegan Bake. This puff pastry slice is packed with mushrooms, cranberries, and pea protein in a creamy coconut milk sauce, seasoned with sage and thyme.

Phat Pasty’s festive range will be available for order starting September through Bidfood, Brakes, and other national and regional wholesalers.
