SeaSpace has officially launched as Cornwall’s first coastal lifestyle aparthotel, merging the convenience of self-catering with the comfort of a lifestyle hotel. The project, conceptualized by the creators of Watergate Bay Hotel, Another Place, and Beach Retreats, has taken two years of planning and development.
Recognizing the increasing preference among travelers for innovative lodging options, SeaSpace offers a unique experience that reflects the shifting dynamics of accommodation. Guests can enjoy modern, self-contained studios and apartments, enhanced by hotel-like amenities such as a vibrant café, a craft beer bar, a health club featuring a 19m swimming pool inspired by classic Miami designs, and a fully equipped gym. Additionally, a Padel tennis club with the Southwest’s first singles courts further enhances the appeal for guests and locals alike.
SeaSpace caters to a diverse audience, including independent travelers, families, remote professionals, and groups seeking a refreshing take on beachside vacations. Located on the east cliffs beyond Newquay, the aparthotel welcomes back several former Sands Resort employees, integrating their local expertise into this new venture.
General manager Mark Williams expressed excitement about introducing guests to this fresh style of accommodation, emphasizing its relaxed atmosphere and community approach that empowers guests to personalize their stay.
The design of SeaSpace harmoniously incorporates the natural beauty of the Southwest coast, utilizing cool greens, soft pinks, and calming blues to create a serene ambiance. The architects aimed to evoke a modern interpretation of the 1950s British seaside, evident in the communal areas and contemporary apartments that boast fully equipped kitchens and spacious living areas overlooking the Atlantic.
SeaSpace is built on sustainability principles, utilizing renewable energy sources and prioritizing the well-being of its team while positively engaging with the local community. They aim to achieve B Corp certification as part of their commitment to ethical practices.
Conveniently situated within a 15-minute drive from the A30 and Cornwall Airport Newquay, SeaSpace is ideally located to explore all that Cornwall has to offer, from world-renowned surfing beaches to cultural attractions.
Community is central to the SeaSpace philosophy, fostering an environment where personal freedom meets collective spirit. The aparthotel actively collaborates with local suppliers and offers engaging events and memberships for residents, creating spaces for guests and locals to connect.
Initially opening with 56 studios and apartments, SeaSpace plans to expand to 72 by 2025, with additional lodges approved for development. The CEO, Ben Harper, shared their vision to replicate this unique coastal hospitality model in other UK locations, marking a significant step in the evolution of accommodation options.
