An Israeli attack on a school sheltering displaced Palestinians in central Gaza has resulted in at least 20 fatalities, according to officials. The Hamas-run Civil Defence Agency reported that the site in Nuseirat camp was hit by artillery fire, which killed entire families and injured dozens. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) stated they are investigating the claims.
Earlier, five children were allegedly killed in a drone strike while playing in northern Gaza. Reports indicate the assault on al-Mufti school, housing hundreds of displaced individuals, left over 50 injured and more than a dozen dead.
Graphic images from the scene depicted the bloodied bodies of young boys, with one holding glass marbles. It was reported that the drone strike targeted a person on the street, resulting in the children’s deaths and additional injuries.
Later photographs showed the boys’ bodies, wrapped in shrouds, laid out side-by-side. An aunt of one of the deceased children, named Rami, shared a heartfelt tribute on social media, recounting how the family relocated to al-Shati seeking safety away from their Jabalia home due to ongoing conflict.
Additionally, updates include that Israeli airstrikes in the Jabalia refugee camp killed at least 10 people, including women and children. An Israeli airstrike struck a hospital courtyard in the Gaza Strip, causing multiple injuries and fatalities among displaced persons. UN peacekeeping forces reported further escalations, including violations by Israeli tanks against their positions in Lebanon. The situation continues to evolve amid ongoing international scrutiny and calls for humanitarian aid access.
