TGI Fridays has been acquired by Breal Capital and Calveton UK, the owners of D&D London, through their venture, Liberty Bar and Restaurant Group Limited, for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition involves 51 restaurants and aims to secure over 2,000 jobs across these locations. The new owners are optimistic about expanding their portfolio with additional sites after discussions with landlords.
Breal Capital and Calveton bring a wealth of experience in the industry, having previously managed brands like D&D London, Byron Burgers, and Vinoteca. Julie McEwan, the chief executive of TGI Fridays UK, expressed that TGI Fridays is a cherished brand with a rich legacy, and that the acquisition signals a positive future following a challenging time for the casual dining sector. She emphasized the company’s commitment to its team and customers during this transition and noted the goal of providing great value to guests.
A spokesperson for the new ownership expressed enthusiasm for working with the committed management team to modernize and leverage the heritage of the iconic brand.
