Terra Mare, a new restaurant dedicated to bringing the authentic flavors of Puglia, Southern Italy, is opening its doors today in Cardiff. Situated in a former cocktail bar on High Street, just a stone’s throw from Cardiff Castle, the restaurant features a beautifully designed dining room capable of seating fifty, alongside additional spots in the bar area and on an outdoor terrace.
Inside, dark green paneling sets a warm and sophisticated atmosphere, complemented by cozy booth seating and soft lighting for a more intimate dining experience. The décor subtly reflects Mediterranean influences, with custom details throughout the bar and wine display.
The heart of Terra Mare lies in its menu, which highlights traditional dishes inspired by the rich culinary heritage of Puglia. Chef Francesco Germinario, who hails from Puglia and has experience in prestigious London kitchens, has crafted a selection that includes daily handmade pastas.
Guests can choose from a variety of dining options, ranging from small plates to a full seven-course taster menu. Highlights include dishes such as Colombaccio alla cacciatora (wood pigeon), Zuppa di pesce alla gallipolina (seafood stew), Aubergine Parmigiana, and Polpo alla griglia (grilled octopus).
For those seeking a more casual experience, the bar area features a selection of crafted cocktails, draught beer, and premium wines, paired with a snacks menu offering items like Fritto Misto, Bruschetta, and Ragu Orecchiette.
Daf Andrews, Co-Founder of A&M Hospitality Group, expressed enthusiasm for introducing the essence of Puglia to Cardiff, inviting guests for both a full dining experience or a quick drink and bite.
Terra Mare is now open, and guests can view sample menus or make reservations through the restaurant’s website. You can also follow them on Instagram for updates.
