The 25-cover Dim Sum by China Tang presents a menu featuring 14 savory and two sweet dim sum options. Highlights include scallop dumplings with caviar, truffle and shiitake mushroom bao, Iberico pork xiao long bao, wagyu taro puffs, and chicken dumplings in spicy sauce.
More substantial dishes consist of roast duck and stir-fried A5 Wagyu beef in black pepper, both signature favorites from the original Park Lane restaurant launched by the late Sir David Tang in 2005.
The kitchen at Dim Sum by China Tang is led by head chef James Xia, who has experience in some of London’s renowned Chinese restaurants. He collaborates with dim sum chef He, the master chef who has been with China Tang at The Dorchester since 2019.
Nathalie Ford, VP Europe and Middle East for China Tang, expressed excitement about the opening, stating, “We are thrilled to bring Dim Sum by China Tang to Harrods in what marks the beginning of an exciting five-year partnership. This is a significant new chapter for the brand, allowing us to provide guests with an elevated dim sum experience in one of the world’s most iconic dining locations. This collaboration reflects our commitment to partnering with the best, and we are particularly grateful to Ford Consultancy for facilitating this deal.”
After the passing of Sir David Tang in 2017, China Tang has been managed by Lai Sun Dining, the operating shareholder. Lai Sun Dining, a Hong Kong-based hospitality group and part of the Lai Sun Group, is chaired by Dr. Peter Lam and manages over 20 brands across 25 venues globally.
The Harrods Dining Hall space was relaunched in 2019, shifting from a focus on takeaway options to an enhanced dining experience.
