The countdown to Wales hosting the world’s premier culinary event in 2026 has begun, following the handover of the Worldchefs Congress & Expo bell in Singapore yesterday.
The Culinary Association of Wales (CAW) will be welcoming the global event, held every two years and attracting thousands of chefs, to ICC Wales in Newport from May 16-19, 2026.
After commending Singapore for setting a high standard with the Worldchefs Congress & Expo 2024, CAW president Arwyn Watkins, OBE, expressed it is a tremendous honor to host the next event in Wales.
“This is not only a significant moment for the Culinary Association of Wales and ICC Wales, but also our nation as we showcase the rich culinary heritage and innovation of Wales,” he shared with delegates.
“We recognize the importance of this prestigious event in bringing together chefs, culinary experts, and industry leaders from around the world to exchange knowledge, experiences, and passion for the culinary arts.
“In Wales, we are inspired by our traditions while also driven by a forward-thinking vision. The next Worldchefs Congress & Expo will marry these two elements. Expect to witness the finest representations of Welsh cuisine alongside global flavors, trends, and innovations that will captivate future generations of chefs.
“We are dedicated to celebrating an event that not only honors our culinary diversity but also addresses vital issues of sustainability, education, and the future of our industry.
“Wales will warmly welcome you to our beautiful country, where you will experience our hospitality, stunning landscapes, and, of course, world-class food.
“We are truly grateful for the trust placed in us, and we pledge to make the upcoming Worldchefs Congress & Expo an unforgettable experience for all. We eagerly anticipate collaborating with Worldchefs and all its members to ensure the resounding success of this exceptional event.”
Mr. Watkins was joined by Peter Fuchs, group culinary director of The Celtic Collection and ICC Wales; Danielle Bounds, ICC Wales sales director; Vicky Watkins, CAW office manager; and Stephanie Belcher, CAW young chef ambassador.
Danielle remarked, “Arwyn has tirelessly worked over the past six years to bring this event to Wales. Supporting him has been a pleasure, and after gaining so much insight here in Singapore, I am more excited than ever to host this international event at ICC Wales in 2026, where our conference theme will be Pasture, Passion, Plate.
“We can’t wait to present the very best of Welsh hospitality on such a prestigious global stage.”
During the congress bell presentation, delegates heard the song ‘When You Return to Wales’ for the first time, gifted by CAW ambassador Katherine Jenkins, OBE, as the 2026 Congress & Expo anthem. Katherine is the founder of Cygnet Gin, a sponsor of CAW.
The Worldchefs Congress & Expo unites chef delegates and professionals from five continents to network and strengthen their professional relationships.
The event’s program features presentations and workshops from leading industry experts, the Worldchefs Educators’ Forum, the Bill Gallagher Young Chefs Forum, the Global Chefs Challenge culinary competitions, an international trade exhibition, and diverse networking activities.
