Vatavaran will be Rohit Ghai’s third restaurant in London, taking over the location of the former Geode Restaurant and Bar on Beauchamp Place. The name “Vatavaran,” meaning ‘atmosphere’ in Sanskrit, is described as a multisensory dining experience that immerses guests in the essence of the Himalayas. Although the menu details are not yet available, the restaurant will span four floors, each representing a unique aspect of the Himalayan landscape. It will also feature a dedicated bar area called Shikhar, which will offer a unique cocktail menu inspired by the spices of the Indian mountains.
Ghai is a highly regarded Indian chef in London with previous experience at Bombay Bustle, Jamavar—where he earned a Michelin star in under a year—Gymkhana, Trishna, and Benares. In collaboration with Sangwan, he opened the modern Indian restaurant Kutir in Chelsea in 2018. Their second London venture, Manthan, opened in 2021. In addition to their London operations, Ghai and Sangwan manage several international restaurants, including Rivayat in Marrakech, Aangan at Muscat’s Shangri-La Al Husn, and Iksha Ikska in Doha.
