Chef Charlie Hodson is embarking on a solo walk from Norwich to London from October 8th to 13th, 2024. With no training and only his partner’s support, a small amount of change in his pocket, and the clothes he wears on departure, he is participating in the “Walk of Wellbeing 24” to raise awareness and support for Hospitality Action.
Why?
Charlie aims to illustrate the unpredictability of life, where mental health issues or accidents can unexpectedly arise, often requiring support from friends, strangers, and community. He seeks your help to make a difference.
How?
Support Charlie by responding to his calls for assistance!
Follow him on Instagram @hodsonandco and see if you can be his Guardian Angel for the day. You can also contribute financially by donating on Enthuse to support Charlie’s mission and Hospitality Action.
Charlie will set off from the Forum in Norwich on the morning of October 8th at 9 am, aiming to reach Battersea Park by October 13th to participate in Hospitality Action’s 20km Walk for Wellbeing. Each day, he will ask for help with essentials like food, clothing, or companionship on parts of his journey.
Having faced his struggles with mental health—most recently attempting to take his own life on August 11, 2019—Charlie understands the importance of support. Hospitality Action, which has been helping individuals in the hospitality industry since 1837, has been a crucial Guardian Angel in his life.
As a chef, Charlie acknowledges that he wouldn’t be here today without the support he’s received, particularly from Hospitality Action, as he prepares for the challenging 113.9-mile walk. He hopes that by sharing his journey, he can pay forward the assistance he has received.
You can join him in this effort, as support for those in need is crucial—one never knows when they might require a Guardian Angel. Support Charlie and Hospitality Action and Mental Health.
