Subject to planning and licensing approval, a 180-seat venue is set to be transformed into a Hamptons-inspired seafood restaurant named The Crab & Lobster Fish Shack. The eatery will focus on “high-end fish and chips,” featuring a variety of fish, crab, and lobster sourced from reputable suppliers of sustainable seafood.
The family plans to invest £250,000 in the site, which has been closed since 2020, and anticipate the project will create 60 new jobs. “After considering this location for about a year, we’re thrilled to announce that The Crab & Lobster Fish Shack is on its way to South Queensferry,” says Bryan Coghill, who runs the business with his pastry chef son, Jack.
Bryan believes this area of South Queensferry, with its excellent infrastructure and proximity to hundreds of new homes, is ideal and holds great potential. Despite the current challenging conditions in the hospitality sector, he is optimistic about this new venture, building on the success of Jack ‘O’ Bryan’s in Dunfermline.
A respected chef in Scotland, Bryan has spent 40 years in the industry, with previous projects like Edinburgh’s Black Pig. Currently, Jack largely manages the kitchen at Jack ‘O’ Bryan’s, while Bryan and his wife Michelle stay closely involved in the business.
