The opening will mark the group’s second location this year and its third overall. It’s Bagels is founded by New York-born fashion and portrait photographer Dan Martensen, in collaboration with Jack Ponting, the head baker and pastry chef for Caravan.
The duo first introduced the It’s Bagels concept at the Caravan Roastery in Camden, subsequently offering it as a delivery service throughout the city before establishing a physical location on Regent’s Park Road in September last year. A second site opened in Notting Hill this summer.
“We’ve had a busy year, with Primrose Hill just over a year old, and Notting Hill opening mere months ago, but Soho has always been a dream for us. When the right location becomes available, you seize the opportunity,” shares Martensen about the new venue.
“We enjoy spending time in Soho and are eager to face the creative challenges of catering to a different demographic compared to our previous neighborhoods and making some new friends.”
As seen in the group’s other locations, the Soho menu will offer a variety of freshly baked bagels made daily on-site, featuring flavors such as poppy, plain, sesame, garlic, and onion. The menu will also include an assortment of cream cheese ‘schmears,’ smoked fish, deli salads, and hot and cold beverages, all available for dining in or takeaway.
Designed by GRT Architects, the Soho site will accommodate 15 customers and aims to reflect the essence of its London neighborhood while honoring the style and spirit of classic New York City eateries.
