Foxhills Club and Resort, an esteemed location for business retreats and corporate meetings, has released insights from its latest research on business meetings and away days. The survey results emphasize the impact of hybrid working on employee motivation, the significance of engaging offsite meetings, and preferences regarding meeting timings and activities.

A significant 72% of participants believe that full-day meetings that include activities provide more value, highlighting the necessity of integrating team bonding and wellness activities into away days to enhance engagement and productivity. To combat the common post-lunch slump, 43% prefer an outdoor walk, reflecting a desire for fresh air and mental clarity after intense strategy discussions.

Furthermore, 58% of respondents consider mornings to be the optimal time for creative thinking. This trend corresponds with Foxhills’ observation that clients often schedule meetings in the morning, followed by afternoon activities to sustain high energy levels and creativity throughout the day.

Remarkably, 98% of those surveyed prefer attending strategy days and brainstorming sessions offsite. A change in environment is believed to foster clarity and fresh perspectives on business matters, making offsite locations vital for effective strategic planning.

Thursday stands out as the preferred day for strategy sessions, with 45% of respondents selecting it as their top choice. This insight presents opportunities for venues to create tailored offerings and experiences around Thursdays, potentially encouraging extended weekend stays.

Additionally, 45% of attendees expressed a preference to stay and socialize after meetings, underscoring the importance of venues that provide exceptional food and drink options, facilitating relationship-building outside the workplace.

Kelly Elton, Group Director of Sales at Foxhills, remarked, “The results from our survey are truly fascinating and align with our ongoing discussions with clients. Most respondents participate in only up to five offsite meetings annually, underscoring the necessity of making these business away days impactful and engaging. We are committed to offering a variety of activities to create unique business days and inspire teams.”

With over 200 activities available on-site, Foxhills is dedicated to adapting to these trends to deliver outstanding meeting and retreat experiences. The resort’s facilities are crafted to promote creativity, engagement, and team bonding, ensuring that each offsite meeting is productive and memorable.
