Italian casual dining chain Bella Italia returns to expansion trail with new Bristol outpost

The Italian casual dining chain Bella Italia, part of The Big Table Group, has announced the opening of a fourth location in Bristol due to “incredible demand.” This new site is situated in a former Frankie & Benny’s restaurant, serving as a trial to assess Bella Italia’s performance in locations previously occupied by its Italian-American counterpart.

A spokesperson for Bella Italia remarked, “We’ve seen incredible demand for Bella Italia in Bristol, and Aspects Leisure Park is the perfect spot for our next opening thanks to its lively mix of entertainment options. It’s an ideal destination for guests to enjoy our signature dishes after a day out at the park’s various leisure facilities.”

This new restaurant joins Bella Italia’s existing locations in Bristol on Baldwin Street, at Cribbs Causeway, and in Filton. The chain operates approximately 70 sites across the UK. Earlier this year, Alan Morgan, CEO of The Big Table Group, stated that Bella Italia was “flying” and outpacing its competitors in sales, according to HDI data. Although the brand makes lower sales than others in the Big Table portfolio due to a lower average spend, it maintains a higher profit margin compared to Frankie & Benny’s. In addition to Bella Italia, Big Table also manages brands such as Banana Tree, Las Iguanas, and Amalfi.
