Following the recent openings in Leeds and Nottingham, Boojum is set to launch a new restaurant in Birmingham this autumn. Situated on New Street in the former location of Second Cup Coffee, the new venue will accommodate 54 customers and offer Boojum’s selection of burritos, bowls, nachos, tacos, chips, and salsas.
This upcoming restaurant will mark Boojum’s third location opening in the UK mainland within six months and is part of the company’s strategy to open 25 new restaurants over the next five years, mainly in university towns and cities.
Rob Powell, Boojum’s head of operations, stated, “Boojum Birmingham represents further investment in our rapid UK expansion plans. We have chosen a prime city centre location close to Birmingham Town Hall, and the design and fit-out to transform it into a bright and vibrant Boojum restaurant will commence shortly.”
Founded in 2007 in Belfast, Boojum currently operates 18 sites throughout the UK and Ireland. The brand was acquired by Azzurri Group in June of the previous year and made its debut in England earlier this year with the opening in Leeds.
CEO David Maxwell expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, saying, “We are delighted to see our expansion plans continue apace with the launch of Birmingham. It’s the ideal demographic for us with its eclectic culture, popular retail destinations, and of course its fantastic food. We can’t wait to bring our fresh, bold Mexican flavours to the city.”
