Compass One, a division of Compass Group UK & Ireland, has acquired Peabodys Coffee, a respected provider of quality food and beverages in healthcare settings. Founded by Claudia Mascino, MD, Peabodys Coffee began its journey in 1997 within London hospitals, offering freshly prepared food daily. The company currently operates at 10 NHS sites in England, employing 55 staff members.

Known for its commitment to sustainability, fairtrade organic coffee, and artisanal food offerings, the acquisition aims to support Peabodys Coffee’s growth, with plans to open new cafes in seven additional hospital locations in the near future. The brand enjoys a strong following among NHS staff, patients, and visitors.

Mark Webster, CEO of Compass One, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “We have long admired the ethos of Peabodys Coffee. With a fantastic reputation for great coffee and food, along with an unwavering commitment to sustainability while supporting the NHS, Peabodys possesses strong values that align with our own. We are excited to help support their growth and bring Peabodys Coffee to more NHS sites.”

Claudia Mascino shared her excitement about the partnership, remarking, “Joining Compass presents us with a wonderful opportunity. Expanding the Peabodys Coffee presence in NHS hospitals has been a long-term ambition. Our core values around sustainability and providing quality food and coffee are fundamental to our business and what makes us unique. I am passionate about supporting the NHS and thrilled to further invest in our growth.”

Peabodys Coffee will now become part of Compass One, which specializes in various sectors, including healthcare retail.
